Environmental protection / pollution control services for Local Authorities

RSA offers a full range of services to assist local authorities with their obligations with regard to all relevant environmental legislation. This work is specialised and has a number of statutory deadlines which authorities sometimes find difficult to meet. Furthermore, many local authorities are struggling to deal with the additional workload generated by the requirements of the new IPPC regime. At RSA, we have EHO’s and technical officers who are able to relieve the pressure by undertaking a range of services on your behalf.

Our services include:

Dealing with new permit applications required by the Pollution, Prevention & Control (England & Wales) Regulations 2000.

Dealing with the transitional responsibilities under the Pollution Prevention & Control (England & Wales) Regulations 2000. This can mean transferring processes currently authorised under Part 1 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 to the new permit system.

Dealing with the complex requirements of the Solvent Emissions (England and Wales) Regulations 2004. This can mean assessing operators’ solvent management plans and solvent reduction programmes.

Assisting in decisions on upgrade plans and substantial changes.

Permit compliance inspections.

Noise consultancy and survey expertise can be called upon in planning related and other matters. This can range from ad-hoc noise surveys and assessments of the environmental health implications of a specific planning application to assistance with staffing out of hours noise control services.

We also have experience of waste management, LA21, recycling schemes and the implementation of “Wheeled Bin Schemes”.

We can review and write all of your departments enforcement procedures and other protocols.

As an alternative to carrying out defined project type work we can place suitably experienced staff within your department to assist or manage your own staff with pollution and public health matters, with a total flexibility of days and working hours.
