Introduction

A supervisor has a legal and moral responsibility to ensure the health and safety of the people being supervised. To do this effectively requires knowledge and skills.

Suitable for

Existing and new supervisors, and people in a junior managerial position.

Course objectives

By the end of the training, delegates will understand the main concepts of health and safety management and the control strategies available to control and improve standards within their area of responsibility.

Duration

Three days (minimum 18 hours plus a two-hour examination and time for site visits).

Exam Format

Two hours duration, consisting of a 60-question, multi-choice, psychometrically valid test.

Accidents in the workplace, reporting requirements, investigations etc.
Illness and disease at work.
Health and safety law.
Enforcement officers and their powers.
Introduction to management concepts.

The role of the supervisor.
Motivating to encourage safety improvements.
Training needs and techniques.
Working with employees, handling conflict etc.
