Advanced certificate in health and safety in the workplace.
Introduction
This course builds upon the basic principles
gained from the CIEH Foundation Course in Health and
Safety in the Workplace, and provides those in managerial
and supervisory positions with appropriate knowledge
and understanding of health and safety issues.
Suitable for
Anyone who has a managerial or supervisory
responsibility for health and safety.
Course objectives
By the end of the training, delegates
will be able to:
Conduct
risk assessments.
Organise
and implement a basic safety management programme.
Understand
the requirement to provide and maintain a safe working
environment.
Understand
the principles and practice of occupational health
and hygiene systems.
Understand
the procedures for development and implementation
of safe systems of work.
Develop
techniques for safety management and monitoring.
Understand
the requirements and techniques involved in provision
of health and safety training.
Understand
key legal requirements and how they are enforced.
Duration
Five days (40 hours tuition).
Exam Format
A three-hour examination (representing
60% of the final grade) and two course assignments representing
40% of the final marks.
